WHICH WAY IS UP?

I started this quilt sometime in 2011 and posted about it here in 2012.  http://frogpondstudio.blogspot.com/2012/10/wip-4-farmers-market.html

I called it Farmer's Market because I had a photo of an outdoor veggie/fruit stand that inspired me to choose these colors.  The block I am using here is called "Lady of the Lake", an old favorite.

I finally gave up on making 81 blocks for a bed size quilt and rearranged my thinking and came up with this.

By adding the solid blocks here and there, I developed some arrows.  I changed the name to "Which Way Is Up" because you can turn it any direction and still have an interesting quilt piece.

I love the secondary pattern that evolves with the circles.
I am so happy to get the top done that I could not wait until I had it quilted to post this.
The backing is ready and I hope I can get it quilted in the next couple weeks.

2014 PLANS

Another year is behind me and I am looking into the New Year of 2014.  About this time each year I begin to look at the unfinished projects that are stacked in my studio.  I have also made a list of them.  Last year I attempted to complete one a month.  That was interrupted when I took on a part-time project/job for the year.  That project is almost completed and I am looking forward to more time to work on my personal projects this year.

Another thing that I want to do is use up my stash.  I have joined some of my other quilty friends to make a pledge (well, sort of) not to buy any more fabric unless it is necessary for the completion of a project.  Hmmm, we shall see if I keep this promise/pledge to myself.

Here are a few of the projects that come to mind:

Farmer's Market

Batik Kaleidoscope

Small Landscape

I have no idea in what order I will do these projects as well as many others.
So, let's get started!!  I will try to post a little more often with progress reports this year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014!!!

CHILLING OUT ON A LILY PAD!

Over here at the Frogpond Studio we do this frequently.  I will spend my weekend getting last minute details taken care of to head to Grand Oak Retreat for four glorious days of eating, sleeping, and stitching with fifteen wonderful gals next week.

I am taking a few of my WIPs with me.
Easy Street designed by Bonnie Hunter.

My ticker tape project.  Love these colors.

STILL working on Farmer's Market.  Maybe this will be the week it gets finished.

I have another project or two I will toss in "just in case" I run out of something to do.

WIP #4 FARMER'S MARKET

Here it is October and harvest time of the year.  The leaves are starting to turn on the trees and the air is getting a little crisper here in southeast Tennessee.  My hubby and I are enjoying some nice porch weather.

The time has come to draw another number from the WIP jar.  This month's number is

This corresponds to a collection of "Lady of the Lake" blocks in bright colors.

Of course, I want to finish the total number of blocks that I need for an original layout/setting I have in mind. I think it will take 81 blocks for the quilt.

Stay tuned for the grand unveiling on or before October 31st.  Of course there will be other projects thrown in during the month.  Some will be new ones and some others may be more unfinished projects.

Join me in finishing one of your WIPs this month, then let me know about it.
