TAKING THE CHALLENGE

One of my favorite quilt teacher/designers is Bonnie Hunter.  She has issued a challenge for each one to do an hour of Needle and Thread time by Hand.

I have three projects to work on.  The first is a preprinted small quilt that I am hand quilting.

I am also working on my Hexie project.
This is the one I am starting with today.

This is the fifth section to be added to the total project.  You can see that the red hexies need to be added and then there is another row of white.

This is Lil Bit and me in our favorite quilting chair.  Currently we are doing this hand sewing in the Living Room with the DH as he recovers from his first Hip Replacement Surgery.
My third hand project involves applique.  This is Tiny Town that I started about 2 years ago.

I will post pics as I go along.  This will certainly make a difference in my unfinished hand projects.

  3. Hi Sandi,

There's an applique quilt somewhere in my future so I hope to learn more about hand work soon. The hexies are a little intimidating for me (right now), but I love the project you're working on in the photo! My "Lil Bit" was a black and white kitty who helped me do everything.

I dropped in on the MQG at Sew Bee It last month. I hope to be at the meeting on Saturday the 8th. Since I've been quilting for only a year, I may ask some questions...I hope that's OK :o)

    1. BJ, I am so glad you came to MQG last month. Hoping to see everyone this week. Ask all the questions you have. You have many resources in this group.

  4. You and Lil Bit look so comfortable in your chair, i have a shih tzu and when he's in my lap he doesn't want me doing anything but paying attention to him, although he weighs only 14 pounds i'd say he's much bigger than that precious little one. love that Lil Bit posts on a regular basis too! enjoy watching the progress you are making with your hexagons, striking colors!

    1. Lil Bit only weighs 2.5 pounds so she isn't too heavy to be in my lap. She is also very tolerant of fabric being over her. She just sleeps right through. Glad you enjoy her posts.

  6. Hi Teresa,
Welcome to my blog. I am so happy you are a follower now. As you discovered I do not blog daily. It comes in spurts. It is kind of like popcorn - lots of kernels are simmering in the pot for a while and then all of a sudden, there are many popping out.
